Reel 1 shows the ruins of Manila after World War II. Flashbacks show Adm. Dewey, Emilio Aguinaldo, and President Manuel Quezon. Includes scenes of rice fields, sugar cane refining, hemp manufacture, gold and chromite mining, the Manila stock exchange, Filipino schools, the U.S. fleet at Cavite naval base, Filipino troops drilling, and Gen. MacArthur at his desk. Gen. Wainwright surrenders Corregidor to the invading Japanese. Japanese troops advance on Manila. Filipino guerillas train in the jungles. Gen. MacArthur wades ashore on his victorious return to Luzon and U.S. troops triumphally reenter Manila. Reel 2, starving Filipinos receive food and enroll for work after the liberation. Divers salvage treasure sunk in Manila bay. The Tydings Committee on Filipino Economic Affairs consults with Filipino leaders. Shows Filipino political rallies. Manuel Roxas is elected president.
